Whenever a page on your site doesn't load, an error message shall be shown to the site visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages which will appear, but what is standard for all of them is that they are generic and almost certainly will have absolutely nothing in common with the layout of your Internet site, which could be irritating for any website visitor. This is the reason why website hosting providers have introduced a feature referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, visitors will see your unique content, which can be informative or witty, depending on your preference, and that will match the design of your website, so the pages will not seem like they're not part of your Internet site at all. You can use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

The custom made error pages function is available with each and every cloud hosting plan which we offer and you'll be able to replace the generic pages with your own with no more than a few clicks from your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You'll need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a given domain or subdomain from the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You may do this for every Internet site hosted in the account independently, so that each set of customized pages will have the same layout as the site it's part of. If required, you could always return back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. An alternate way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to add a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you can simply copy the needed code from our Help article about the subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All Linux semi-dedicated servers that we supply support custom made error pages and it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you will need to input the links to the custom-made files via basic drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Keep in mind, you should upload them to your account before that. If you don't want to employ this feature at some point, you will be able to disable it just as quickly and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown whenever your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom error pages. The file needs to include a specific line of code plus a link for each error type and you may find an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
