Every now and then you might need to block specific third parties from accessing your websites. There are plenty of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for example, and create fake visits and online traffic. There are also spammers that leave links to questionable sites as comments to blog articles. This type of things can significantly undermine your hard work, since nobody likes to visit an Internet site with many hundreds of fake comments, plus the increased website traffic from both spammers and bots can generate high load on the web server where your site is hosted, which could result in the site not working correctly. One of the best solutions in such a case is to block the IPs which generate the fake traffic, in order to be certain that the visits to your site are real.

IP Blocking in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account with us and you want to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a pretty simple interface, you'll be able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to perform that is to log in to your Control Panel, to go to the IP Blocking section, to choose a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You'll not have to do anything complex if you want to block an entire network - you will just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the very same section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses at some point, you may take advantage of the easy-to-use blocking tool, that we have included in our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With only several mouse clicks, you will be able to block certain IPs or whole ranges, if necessary. All you will have to do is select any one of your domains or subdomains from a drop-down menu, decide if the blocking must be valid for the root folder or for a subfolder that's part of the site, and then enter the IP address that you want to block. For an IP range, you only need to omit the last octet or the last two octets of the address based on the size of the network which you want to block. All of the addresses you have restricted shall be listed inside the very same section and if you would like to whitelist any one of them, you shall be able to do it with a mouse click anytime.
